PREFLIGHT THOUGHTS ABOUT STUDY ABROAD IN RICHMOND, VA
"Of the gladdest moments in human life, is the departure upon a distant journey into unknown lands."
Richard Francis Burton
After vacuum packing my duvet & pillow, clothes, coats etc., bought my travel and health insurance, spent a lot on my US Visa and finally had my vaccination formed signed by my doctors (which took 6 visits in a week and lots of angry emails!) I’m now ready for my flight on Wednesday to Richmond!
I like to be really organised, so not being given much information about my room or what to pack stressed me out slightly…but now I’m really excited to move in and start experiencing uni life in the states (and do a big shop when I arrive for kitchen stuff and food!)
To be honest I have no idea of what university will actually be like in America. Obviously, I’m aware of the stereotypical sororities, fraternities and the massive emphasis on college sport shown in films and tv series (HSM Wildcats❤️), but I have no idea how accurate this will be, or how different the structure of study will be.
